A CURIOUS MIND KNOWS NO LIMITS
ALL QUESTIONS REALLY MATTER
#1. What language does the guide use during the running tour?
English is the official running tour language but you might listen to and learn a few 'OPORTOguese' expressions along the way. This can come in handy if you're spending a few more days in the city! And, by the way, this book might be a fun souvenir idea! If you prefer, the tour can be held in Portuguese. #2. Will there be photostops? If you want to: sure we can stop! Our guide will be more than happy to take a photo of you at the best sight locations. We usually carry our own mobile or camera. Photos can be emailed to you, a couple of days later, free of cost. If our guide is in a 'good hair day', maybe he'll join you for a group photo! Just that you know: We will not publish your photos on-line without your consent! -to the top- #3. How far in advance should I book my run? The more notice you give us the better. We make every effort possible to accommodate each run request. However, requests for running tours within less than 48 hours notice are subject to guide availability. -to the top- #4. Can you pick me or my group at the hotel? Usually it is possible to start/end the tour at your hotel front door, free of charge, if the chosen tour's route runs close by. In any case, please mention your request in the booking form . It is also to arrange for a vehicle transfer service or a taxi from your accommodation to the meeting point, with an extra variable fee (less than 15Eur, if your hotel is within city limits), which will be informed to you in advance, via email, together with the confirmation of the tour. -to the top- #5. How will I keep pace? It's a private tour, therefore we run at your pace, walk or stop if you need or want to. We always aim for your comfortable conversation pace, that allows you to ask questions or bring up any topic to chat with the guide (almost all topics welcome except maybe quantum physics, please :)). If you booked a tour for a group, depending on the number of people, we can adjust to the slowest person's pace or have more than one guide ready to lead different running paces (this applies to custom or corporate tours). Please do not worry - we will not leave you behind! -to the top- #6. Are we running the whole time? Usually we make short stops to share tidbits of information. Even though we adjust to your comfortable pace, and could easily go through the route with no stops, we highly recommend you make the most of the time you spend with the local tour guide/runner, and have him stop or walk if necessary. In group tours, the guide will decide if a stop is necessary to make sure everyone stays together and gets to hear all the information. During the tour we like to share some historical facts and funny stories about Porto, but we can easily do it while we run! -to the top- #7. I am not that experienced of a runner. Can I still participate? We highly encourage newbies in Porto Running Tours (PRT)! Please feel free to join a tour with us regardless of your running experience. Note that PRT does not stand for 'Personal Record Tours'. PRT are not races and are not competitive - our aim is to provide a fun and informative running experience! If you are booking a tour with your friends, make sure that they won't mind going a little slower or stop more often, if you need. -to the top- #8. Will there be anything to drink? Presently we don't provide bottled water to the participants, for environmental reasons. Each participant is responsible for carrying his own water during the run, if he finds it necessary. In any case, our advice is for you to carry some pocket money. Because we're run in the city, there will always be an open 'café', 'pastelaria' or grocery store where you can buy some water, sugary drink or food. -to the top- #8. Is it possible to drink beer on the runs? What about Port wine? Our advice is to have the beer after the run is complete, not before/during the run. In Porto, tap beer is called "FiNO". If it's hot outside, maybe our guide will join you for round 1 - this may also apply for Port wine, on cold days :-) Please notice: In Portugal, regulations prohibit the selling and serving of alcoholic beverages to anyone under 18 years old. -to the top- #9. Are there toilets along the route? On any route that we run, we can always find a toilet for you to use. Most routes run by some of the public 'wc's scattered throughout the city. -to the top- #10. What happens if the weather is bad? We are willing to run through all types of weather if you like. In any case, the guide will evaluate the weather situation before each tour starts and decide if safety is guaranteed for all participants. Please notice: some of the routes run through cobbled streets that may get slippery on rainy days. Also take into account that wind may take down your skin temperature a few degrees, so make sure you carry a light windstopper jacket along in windy days. -to the top- #11. Do you sell souvenir T-shirts? Merchandise? We are working on this subject! Soon we will have an on-line store, that's a promise! Maybe we will have some more nice products with the PORTO RUNNING TOURS logo for you to take home! -to the top- #12. What if I am running late? Please give your guide a call if you are running late. Your running guide will try and contact you if you go beyond the tolerance period of 10minutes. For this reason, it is important that you fill out your phone number information in the booking form. -to the top- #13. Is there an age limit on the tours? There is no age limit on our tours. However, minors under 18 must run with their legal representative at all times. Also, please consult with us in advance if you're coming with a children stroller. Please read the next Question! -to the top- #14. Are child jog strollers allowed on the tour I'm booking? Jog strollers are allowed on some of the running tours. We also have one you can use! Please place your request on the booking form's comment box. Unfortunately, not all tours are suitable, as Portuguese cobbled streets and sidewalks are not the most 'stroller friendly' in the world... -to the top- #15. Are dogs allowed on the tours? Dogs are allowed on some of the running tours. Please make sure you have your dog on a leash and the dog is used to running! Also, in Porto you must take a small bag to pick up any accidental... well, you know! If you think your animal is unpredictable, please be aware that the city is a busy place with many distractions. -to the top- #16. Rescheduling If you missed your original scheduled tour (due to than an emergency) or if weather conditions are not suitable for a running tour, we reschedule to another date you can attend. -to the top- #17. Are gift certificates available for the running tours? Currently only available on request, by email. These gift certificates can be purchased for both standard and custom running tours. Gift certificates are customized and emailed to you. Please send us an email, we'll get back to you with detailed information and a sample certificate. -to the top- |
